Ellie

I don’t miss Connor.

Not in the slightest.

It’s just… odd that he isn’t here because I’m used to that by now, right?

Wednesday was okay. He left in the morning like always and I turned in early.

Then there was yesterday where I was busy all damn day with Myra and Lucy, crafting and hanging up decoration all around Rose Hills, so yeah, guess what; I was tired.

Today I went to a print shop in the next town over to print flyers for the town festival and then went onto a small road trip to nearby towns with Lucy to hand out said flyers and I was done pretty early in the afternoon.

I took a walk at the bay, read a bit on the back patio, and ignored two calls from Charlotte.

But now it’s evening, I have absolutely nothing to do except chilling on the sofa in the living room and staring at the TV, and wondering why the hell Connor hasn’t called once.

Doesn’t he want to know how I am?

Or like… how his plants are?

Is he really that busy?

He’s probably simply not thinking about me.

Or working.

Or…

I shoot up from my half-lying position.

Could he be hooking up with someone?

He said he didn’t have sex in five months and… oh God. Maybe he met someone and she’s currently writhing beneath him in the sheets of his hotel room.

I fall back into the cushions and sigh, twisting my phone in my hands.

Then I sigh and send a text to Sierra.

Ellie: Hey Si. Got time for a call? I’m sorta lonely and miss you.

I lean back and giggle at a joke in the show. Then I turn and look out the window.

I can see the waves of the ocean moving lazily and fuck… so I miss Connor?

Why does the ocean remind me of him?

Is it because of his eyes maybe?

No. Ridiculous.

I can’t miss him. He’s… he’s just the guy I’m living with currently until I can get back to my normal life.

My phone buzzes and I expect it to be my friend but blink in surprise when I see the name.

I open the text.

Myra: Hey dear. Just made a fresh batch of cinnamon buns, I’ll save one for you. Thanks for your help.

Ellie: Oh Myra, thank you so much! Can’t wait to have it. Hey, uhm, have you actually heard from Connor?

Myra: Can’t say I have. He’s usually very busy during these trips. Why?

Ellie: Was just wondering if he was doing okay.

Myra: Dear, if you’re worried just shoot him a text, I’m sure he won’t mind and get back to you as soon as he has time!

Ellie: Wouldn’t wanna bother him

Myra: Actually I’m rather sure he’d be happy if you texted him, knowing he’s being thought about…

I smile and take a deep breath.

Would it actually make him happy if I texted him?

The last thing I want this to be is like weird or clingy or… awkward.

I scroll through the chats and notice that Sierra hasn’t even opened my message yet which is weird cause usually this woman is glued to her phone 24/7.
